Clear & Sheer Day 2

Hello again...

Well, it's day 2 for me even if it's day 5 of the class...
So this lesson was about vellum techniques and I don't think I've ever tried to use copics to colour vellum ... It's kind of tricky as the ink stays on the top
Nevertheless I had a go and here's my card

I do however, love cutting out with vellum it's so easy -  For this card I used a Stampendous stamp together with a couple of leaf dies

The base of the flowers and leaves are anchored with double sided tape and the ribbon hides it - I also used a little glue here and there on the back of the flowers

Even though the colouring is not marvelous, I do like the result and would probably try this again
What do you think?

Have a great day and thanks so much for your visit

Clear & Sheer

Hi there ...

I decided to join in with the Sheer & Clear card class (a little late but no worries) ... I don't use vellum enough and also I thought watching a few classes would kick start my mojo ...Anyways, it's day 4 today and so far I only done 1 card - from day 1 Lol!
Attaching vellum

I just played around with some things that were on my desk after Pat came to play - Some very old paper that I have been hoarding from Basic Grey, a piece of vellum, a stamp and some die cuts

I used some tape and glue behind the leaves, the 'hugs' and the gem stones to secure my vellum - I couldn't decide if I like the paper behind the vellum or not so I went with a design that gives both

See that hugs die? Well I cut a few when I first got the die and promptly lost the die after that, never to be seen again...sigh
I've searched everywhere, under the cupboards and drawers, tipped out my bin 3 times and checked every packet of dies ... It's just vanished! Oh well, at least I made a card...

Till soon

A Little Watercolour

Hello...

It's taken me awhile to get back into creating again...Pat came to visit yesterday and I helped her to make a few cards then later I got around to doing a little watercolouring...Before I share my card I'd like to thank the ladies at Inkspirational for giving me a Top Pick some weeks ago for This card ... I'm really grateful

On to my card.....

I used a stamp from Wplus9 and Gansai Tambi paints to loosely  colour the embossed image
Stella brought me some lovely square stitched dies and I wanted to use them for this project

By partially cutting a large die I was able to create a folding card to mount the other 2 squares on and added a sentiment cut from glittered cardstock and some gems

It's so cold here right now... they've even forecast some snow...sigh
I should be getting out my summer clothes ready to pack but I just can't bring myself to do it yet - I mean you have to try on right? And I am not going to be parted from my thick jacket today! Lol!

Have a lovely day and I'll catch you soon

City Crafter 309

Hello there...

I've been missing for a while and I'm way behind on comments but as you know I have been enjoying a visit from my dear friend Stella and on top of that I have been unsuccessfully battling a cold...
I think the loss of Gipsy last week must have left me quite low and I am only too glad that Stella came to visit ... I haven't laughed so much in a long time and I am already missing her....

So today as it happens, the new challenge at City Crafter has been set by Stella ...
The theme is Balloons

The card I made will be for my Great nephew Ross who has a birthday in a few weeks

It's a sort of slider card... Pull the tab at the top and the balloons go up

After cutting a slider front, I used the cityscape die (Clearly Besotted) and did a partial cut so that it was lengthened... if that makes sense... to fit the bottom part of the card and snipped off a portion in the centre to enable the slider to move...
I used distress inks to colour the cityscape and also to add 'rays'

The balloons ( Lil'inker) were coloured with Copics and I added glossy accents... The stitched frames are also Lil'inker, clouds are Memory box and the sentiment MFT

Our Guest Designer this week is the very talented Suchi - winner of week 301. Do go visit her and check out her lovely creations and don't forget to take a peek at the projects the rest of the team have up on the City Crafter Blog

Have a beautiful day

City Crafter 308

Hello there...
It's my turn to host the challenge this week at

An Englishman's Home Is His Castle

We want you to create a card or project that features either a House or the word Home

I did some masking and ink blending for my card

It's a technique that I really like and keeps the card pretty much flat except for the gems and the glossy heart

I used a variety of different stamps here too...

I'm sorry I'm not up to writing much today ... Losing our cat yesterday has set me back but I would like to say a huge Thank You to all of you for your kind words - We really appreciate your thoughfulness.

Please hop on over to the City Crafter Blog to see what the team have come up with and say 'Hi' to our Guest designer this week Yalentini

The winner of last week's prize will be announced in the next few days too

Take care

Sad News

Hello ...

Just a brief post today to let you know that our sweet little cat Gipsy was killed on the road this morning...

My son took her in to our home some years ago and he adored her as she did him ... My heart aches to see him so broken...
She will be missed for all her quirky ways, for the spirit she was and for the love she brought into our lives especially Mikey's.

Books

Hello and good morning friends

It's time for a new prompt over at

Where photos tell the stories and captured memories are shared

I got to choose the prompt this week and it's
Books

I love books...I have lots of the box kind like above that house some of the many little books albums I make

I have old books, the pages worn and yellow like this one

Notice the price on there? 3/6 Three shillings and sixpence... And it's full of funny and strange little poems

But it's special because I was awarded this more than 50 years ago for the art of speaking verse
This is another one I was awarded at church

again over 50 years ago, I was so thrilled taking these home

I know many people use Kindle but to me there is nothing like a real book and once quite by chance I came across this book that was a revelation.....

Why? Because inside was a family tree... MY family tree...On my father's side

Evelyn Beatrice Bartley was my Aunt and my Father's mother ...Having been put in an orphanage when they were aged 9 and 11... Neither knew their full background until I found this - It even had photos

I was able to contact the author and find family living in Australia ...

I know many of you fear altering a book but to me even the old discarded and unwanted can be given a new lease of life

Go see what everyone else is sharing up on the blog and link up with us at

Have a lovely day

Save The Date

Hello there ....

Phew! life has been so busy lately...I mentioned in an earlier post that a dear friend is getting married next year and I am making her Wedding invitations and Save the Date cards ... That has kept me busy for a while.
The designing, wording etc., takes time and basically all I had to go on were the colours and maybe some bling? Lol!

So here's the finished Save the Date

They are now all completed - The invitations will be more or less the same and I have breathing space before I start the 100 or so ...
You can see that my Big Shot got an extra work out together with my arm! And the vellum leaves often argued with the Cameo! Sourcing everything I needed takes a lot of time ... We are really stuck for craft shops here and the few we do have are very expensive so everything is bought via the internet...

Keeping up with DT work, Thursday Club and commenting has been a little exhausting...I found that concentrating on the STD cards left me with little inspiration for anything else. In a few days time I will have my dear friend Stella visiting and a week later DH and I are taking a well earned (well, for me anyway) holiday. We are off to Majorca and hopefully some sea, sand and sun. It will be a treat just having someone else do the cooking and cleaning I can tell you...

Have a great day and thanks so much for looking in on me

Spring Thing

Hello and Happy Sunday to you

Kirsty has picked "Spring Thing" for the prompt this week at

Unfortunately Spring has been delayed here where I live... I was looking back on last year's photos and everywhere was so much more colourful

We do however have amazing displays of Daffodils ... They're blooming not only in the gardens but in virtually every park and highway that we pass

The blossom is slowly starting to appear coaxed by the spells of sunshine but winter is clinging - outstaying her welcome

Cold nights, cool days and raindrops that leave the winter pansies bowing their heads

But there are some Spring surprises to come... The tulips my dear friend Stella sent from The Netherlands are awaiting her arrival ...

They have decided not to open until she is here... only 10 days to go

And look at this

This makes me smile because it's my lilac tree - My Mum loved lilacs and this always makes me think of her but last year I didn't get one single flower on that tree

But I can already see the purple flowers peeking out ... Oh yes! We are having lilacs this year, so Spring you are forgiven for being a little tardy and we are waiting to welcome you with open arms

Till soon

Make it Yellow

Hello there...
We have a new challenge over at Double D Challenge today

Team Diane are hosting and the challenge is
Make it Yellow

Yellow is not my go to colour... It's always a challenge to me for some reason ... Guess I'm more of a blues and greens gal but, yellow it is!

I had the idea for my card and started by stamping and colouring the flowers with Copics but I made a boo boo so ended up cutting out the stamped flowers and layering them ... A happy accident as it turned out...

The background was sponged with distress ink and everything else was done with Copics
Then I did a lots of raindrops using glossy accents

The team have created some lovely cards to inspire you up on the blog ... Go take a look and see what you can win if you link up with us ...

As it happens Just Us Girls have a Word Week challenge and the word is Raindrops

So I'd like to enter my card there and also at Inkspirational Challenges
where they have this lovely photo this week

Thanks so much for stopping by - Have a lovely day!
